Computer Upgrades

 hardware        . . . Should you?

If you've had a computer for a while, you’ve probably reached the point of needing some computer upgrades at least once.

Technology is changing pretty quickly, and it seems like every time you want to install a new program, run a faster internet connection, or play the latest game, you’re faced with the need to upgrade components.

The two most common upgrades are Memory (RAM) and Hard Drives. These are two aspects of your computer’s memory… the RAM is the "main memory" where your programs run when you’re actually using them, similar to our short term memory. The more RAM you have, the smoother and faster your computer will run. The Hard Drive is the "storage memory" where your programs, data and operating system are loaded and saved, similar to our long term memory. The larger the Hard Drive you have, the more storage area you have for programs and data.

There are also lots of other upgrades that give your computer new capabilities: CD or DVD burners, TV tuner cards and Video Cards are things that, while not necessarily required, will add to what your computer can do.

If you're thinking of upgrading one or more components,  we can advise on the cost-effectiveness of an upgrade vs. the age and build of your computer. If you decide to upgrade your system, we will then be able to order the correct parts, install, and test.
